Shelly Lares is an award winning recording artist, singer, songwriter, musician and now record label executive of ShellShock 3 Records has been added to this trailblazing Tejana's list of accomplishments.
Keeping with the spirit of the Tejano Convention, which is to preserve and honor this amazing American fusion of music rooted in our Hispanic culture, we wanted to highlight the talent in the EXPO for a more memorable, fun and energizing experience. We could think of only one person with the personality and experience that truly reflect the enthusiasm we feel – that is Shelly. To share some Tejano Convention history with you – Shelly received the first and only standing ovation of the Tejano Convention ever (until Jessy Serrata several years later – there has only been two standing ovations). Not bad for a woman in Tejano!
Shelly agreed without hesitation in 2011 when we asked her to be part of something new. We wanted her to add her experience, personal flair and infectious humor as host to introduce each band and share a little about them.
The driving force behind this effort is for the audience and industry representatives at the Convention to receive more than a concert. We know that when audiences are engaged on more than one level they will support and listen MORE. It's all about the MORE.
